Timber Casement Windows

High-Performance Timber Casement Windows Made to Order

Our bespoke timber casement windows are designed to combine period authenticity with modern performance. Each unit is made to order, using high-quality Accoya and hardwoods, with glazing and security upgrades available to suit both heritage properties and new-build projects.

Heritage & Period Casement Window History

Casement windows have been part of British architecture since the medieval period, traditionally hinged on the side and often paired with leaded glass. Today, we continue this tradition by replicating original details for conservation areas while integrating energy-efficient glazing, discreet draught seals, and durable finishes.

What's The Benefits Of Our Bespoke Timber Casement Windows ?

What are Astragal Glazing Bars on Timber Casement Windows?

Astragal bars are fixed to the surface of the glass on both sides of the sash. Internally, a duplex spacer bar is sealed inside the double-glazed unit. This gives the appearance of individual panes, while keeping the wooden casement window energy-efficient and suitable for modern building standards.

We offer several traditional astragal configurations that are frequently requested in conservation area applications, including Georgian grids and vertical or horizontal bar layouts.

Glass Options

Our wooden casement windows are double glazed as standard, with the option to upgrade to vacuum glazing or specify single glazing for conservation-led work. In addition to thermal performance, we also offer a range of glass types to meet acoustic, safety, or privacy requirements.

Double Glazing (Standard)
Our standard unit offers excellent thermal performance, with centre-pane U-values from 1.2 W/m²K. It’s suitable for most residential projects and comes with a laminated option if additional safety or security is needed. An energy test certificate is available on request.

Vacuum Glazing (Upgrade)
This ultra-slim glazing option delivers centre-pane U-values as low as 0.4 W/m²K while closely matching the appearance of single glazing. It’s ideal for Article 4 and conservation areas where visual authenticity and insulation are both priorities. Lead time for vacuum units is typically 10–12 weeks.

Single Glazing
For projects requiring a traditional appearance, we also offer 4mm single glazing. This is suitable for properties in strict conservation areas and can be supplied with a bead-glazed finish to resemble a putty imitation, depending on your specification.

Glass Types Available Across All Formats:
Where supported by the glazing type, you can choose from the following glass options:

  • Laminated Glass – For safety and improved security

  • Acoustic Glass – Helps reduce external noise, ideal for urban locations

  • Reeded Glass – For a decorative finish with partial obscurity

  • Satin Obscure Glass – Provides full privacy with a frosted appearance, often used for bathrooms

We’ll guide you through these choices during the design process, or you can contact us if you need help specifying glass for your property or planning conditions.
